A trio of women of color who love urban African culture and also happen to be filmmakers.
As filmmakers with diverse backgrounds, our goal is not only to narrate a cohesive story of the evolution of Afro dance into a global phenomenon but also to establish a platform that safeguards, emphasizes, and enhances the learning of this art form.
Our Story
Our journey began with a shared love for dance and a deep desire to amplify the
voices of those often overlooked in mainstream media. Drawing from our own
experiences growing up in diverse African communities, we recognize the power
of storytelling in celebrating our heritage and empowering our communities.
Through our upcoming film, we aim to shine a spotlight on Afro dance and the incredible individuals who breathe life into this art form. From the bustling streets of Lagos to the vibrant neighborhoods of Johannesburg, we'll take audiences on a captivating journey, exploring the origins, evolution, and impact of Afro dance on African societies.
But our vision goes beyond just showcasing the beauty of dance. We're committed to capturing the untold stories of the dancers themselves; their struggles, triumphs, and unwavering passion in the face of adversity. From overcoming societal norms to navigating personal challenges, our film will offer a raw and authentic portrayal of the realities faced by Afro dance purveyors.

Three African women filmmakers teaming up to make an impact in their community.
Producer & Director
Gladys Edeh
Gladys Edeh is an award-winning director and producer based in Atlanta, Georgia, born in Oklahoma and raised in Kano State, Nigeria. Influenced by her father's love for films and photography, she pursued filmmaking independently. Her debut film, "But Mamah," was recognized at the ION Film Festival in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She founded Gladys Edeh Films, producing the "Who Is" web series and a BTS docu-film based on the stage play "Wedlock of the Gods." Her acclaimed documentary "Mr. Gele: The Man. The Story. The Craft" won several awards and was showcased on EbonyLife TV, broadcasting to over 50 countries in Africa, and is available on Amazon Prime. Currently, she is co-producing and directing a feature-length documentary, *Dance to The Beat.

Priscilla Nzimiro Nwanah
Priscilla Nzimiro Nwanah is a Director/Producer with over a decade in television and film. She has produced and directed renowned Pan-African shows like Nigerian Idol and MTN's Project Fame West Africa and was a Senior Producer/Director at EbonyLifeTV, pioneering unscripted hits such as The Fattening Room and Tiannah’s Empire. Her cinema achievements include producing The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, showcased at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, and the Nollywood hit, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai. She co-founded "She Rocks," celebrating women in media and arts, and during the pandemic, collaborated on "In the Absence of Things" with Grammy-nominated artist Somi. Recently, she produced EbonyLife Studios' first Netflix original film, 'Blood Sisters,' which premiered in 2022 to global acclaim. Priscilla is known for her bold creativity and commitment to excellence, delving into themes of female identity, African culture, and immigration.

Lusanda Chauke
Lusanda Chauke is a South African film and television professional based in Lagos, with extensive experience in Nigeria and South Africa. She has worked with Endemol on projects like "Malta Guinness Street Dance", "Money Drop" and "Big Brother Africa," and also served as a Manager in the Reality TV Unit at Globacom Nigeria. As the founder of Black Roots Media, her portfolio includes branded content for international brands such as Zee World, Bacardi Group, NBA Africa, Deutsche Welle, and The Home Channel on DSTV.
